Five card draw poker is a very easy game to learn. It is also quite fast paced as it only involves two betting rounds. Unlike most of the other poker games popular on the internet there are no communal cards. This leads to intriguing betting, as you must learn to read your opponents style of play and tactics really carefully. This fact also makes it a great game for those of us who like to bluff.

Order of play:

• As with all poker games, the person who draws the highest card deals.
• In online games the dealer is represented by graphic marker by his name.
• Each player is dealt five cards.
• The first round of betting takes place.
• The person sitting left to the dealer starts the betting.
• After the first betting round is complete, players may discard as many or few cards as they like.
• The person to start the discarding is the one to the left of the player who closed the betting.
• Discarded cards are replaced by the dealer. All cards are face down, i.e. pocket cards. If you discard one card you will receive one new from the dealer, etc. A player must never have more or less than five cards.
• The last round of betting takes place before the showdown.

Variants:

Like all poker games there are many variants to five card draw. The most common ways of playing are as follows:

1. Usually 5 card draw is plated with antes, not blinds. This is a fixed amount of money every player pays into the pot before any cards are dealt.
2. 5 card draw is, traditionally, a no limits game of poker. Meaning that bets can be raised without any restrictions and there is no highest bet or capping.
3. Due to the popularity of all forms of poker on the net, today 5 card draw is often played with limits. This ensures a large number of people can play, win large sums of cash, without the game spiralling beyond their means.
4. The usual poker hands ranks apply to 5 card draw.
